14/04/2009 - Foundation of APIC - Paraná Association for Cochlear Implants

On 14th April APIC was created - the Paraná Association for Cochlear Implants, in a solemn session carried out at the City Council of Curitiba by proposition of Councilman Zé Maria. One of the founders of the association, Dr. Rogério Hamerschmidt, responsible surgeon for the Cochlear Implant Service at IPO Hospital - Paraná Institute of Otorhinolaryngology - was honored with the Vote of Commendation, for services to the Community. And Dr. Marcos Mocellin, Chief of Otorhinolaryngology at the UFPR and member of the IPO Body of Physicians was also honored with the Vote of Commendation for the same reason. Also present were more IPO doctors, specialists and Cochlear Implant users.
The Association has the objective of informing the public about the most modern treatment for profound deafness, the cochlear implant (bionic ear).
